the life of a female tradesmen.
I started in the trades sector around 7 years ago now I am skilled in plumbing works, builds, electrics ect and somehow customers have the nak of making me feel like it's my first day on the job š„“
A few straight from the customers mouths examples naming no names obviously
. Are you here to hold the hammer š¤
. Ahhh making sure he's actually at work šµāš«
. Ohhh your a woman š«£
. You here to help out for the day š
. She here to clean š
Being self employed this happens almost every week but I keep going & not all customers are like that I have reoccurring ones that are amazing.
So far on my journey the tradesmen have been very accepting and remain unbothered by my female form because as long as the job gets done & they can be men šŖ their happy š
With all the comments and frequent reminders that I have boobs š showing up week in week out can feel very daunting because a man shows up to site they don't usually get the oh it actually looks great at the end but I do because the expectations in a male dominated field can be very blurred for female workers we have to prove we deserve to be their from minute one and whatever you do as a female onsite DO NOT pick up a sweeping brush, believe me that is all they will remember of you at the end of the job š¤£
Keep your chin high, best way for anybody to prove their worth is to keep showing up!
